Stats and Season Replay
Season statistics, player ratings, and generating your Replay video.
Touchlines tracks your season stats automatically. Every completed match feeds into cumulative totals for your team and individual players. This guide covers what those numbers mean and how to generate a Season Replay.
Where stats come from
Stats are calculated from the events you log during matches. A goal event adds to the scorer's goal tally. An assist adds to the assisting player's assist count. Fouls, corners, and dribble ons work the same way.
Only completed matches count towards season stats. If you create a match and record some events but never tap End Match, those events exist on the match detail page but do not feed into the season totals. To keep your stats accurate, make sure you complete every match — even if you forget on the day, you can open the match later and end it.
The Players table
On your team's Stats page, the Players table shows every player who has appeared in a completed match this season. The columns are:
- Apps — appearances. The number of completed matches the player was involved in (either starting or coming on as a substitute).
- Goals — total goals scored across the season.
- Assists — total assists across the season.
- POTM — the number of times the player has been awarded Player of the Match.
- Attack Rating — a weighted score reflecting attacking contribution (see below).
- Creativity Rating — a weighted score reflecting creative contribution (see below).
Tap any player's name to see their match-by-match breakdown.
Attack Rating and Creativity Rating
These two ratings give you a per-appearance measure of a player's contribution. They are calculated as follows:
Attack Rating
(Goals x 3 + Assists x 2 + Dribble Ons) / Appearances
This weights goals most heavily, with assists and dribble ons adding extra credit for attacking play. A player who scores regularly will have a high Attack Rating, but a player who assists often and takes players on will also score well.
Creativity Rating
(Assists x 3 + Corners x 1.5 + Dribble Ons) / Appearances
This focuses on build-up play. Assists carry the most weight, with corners and dribble ons reflecting a player's ability to create pressure and get past opponents.
Both ratings are simple weighted averages — they are not predictive models. They highlight involvement and contribution, not talent. A player with a low rating may have played fewer minutes, faced tougher opposition, or contributed in ways that are not captured by event logging. Use them as one input alongside what you see on the pitch, not as a verdict.
Season Replay
Replay is a video summary of your team's season — a short animated sequence showing your record, top scorers, standout matches, and milestones. Think of it as a highlights package for your stats, set to the Touchlines design.
How to generate a Replay
Go to the Replay page from the bottom navigation. Select the team you want to generate a Replay for, then tap Generate. The animation plays in your browser, recording itself as it goes. When it finishes, you get two things:
- A shareable link that plays the animation in any browser. Send it to parents, post it in the group chat — anyone can watch it without an account.
- A video file you can download. The file is in WebM format, suitable for sharing on WhatsApp, saving to your camera roll, or uploading to social media.
Free vs Pro
On the free plan, you can generate one Replay per year per team. The free Replay includes limited stats (top scorer and season record) and carries a small "Made with Touchlines" watermark.
With a Pro subscription, you can generate a Replay every month. The Pro Replay includes the full set of stats — all scorers, assists, trophies, coach notes, and media — with no watermark.
Both versions produce a shareable link and a downloadable video.
Automatic generation
At the end of each season (31 May by default, configurable per team), Touchlines automatically generates a Replay for every Pro team. You will receive a notification when it is ready. Free teams receive an automatic Replay once per year on the same date.
Sharing your Replay
The shareable link works like any web page — send it by message, email, or post it wherever you like. Parents open it in their browser and the animation plays immediately. No account or download required.
The video file can be shared directly through any app that supports video. It is typically 10–30 seconds long depending on how much data your season contains.
