Getting started

Create your team, add players, and record your first match.

This guide walks you through signing up, creating a team, adding your players, and recording your first match. You can be up and running in under five minutes.

Create your account

Head to dash.touchlines.app and fill in your name, email address, and a password. You will receive a verification email — open it and tap the link to confirm your address.

If the email does not arrive within a couple of minutes, check your spam folder. You can also request a new one from the sign-in page if your address has not yet been verified.

Once verified, sign in and you will land on your dashboard. It will be empty for now — that changes as soon as you create a team and start recording.

Create your first team

Tap Teams in the bottom navigation, then tap the + button. Give your team a name (for example, "Foxes U10s") and pick the age group. That is all you need — you can add a badge image and other details later in team settings.

Your new team appears on the Teams page. Tap it to open the team detail view, where you will manage players, matches, and settings.

Add players

Inside your team, tap Players, then tap Add Player. The only required field is the player's name. You do not need a shirt number, position, or any other detail to get started — you can fill those in whenever you like.

Add as many players as you need. There is no limit on squad size, and you can add or remove players at any point during the season. If a player joins mid-season, just add them — their stats start from their first match.

A few tips:

  • Use the name the player goes by on the pitch. "Charlie" is fine; you do not need their full legal name.
  • If two players share a first name, add a surname or initial so you can tell them apart when logging events.
  • You can edit any player's details later by tapping their name in the squad list.

Record your first match

Go back to your team and tap Matches, then tap New Match. You will be asked for:

  • Opponent name — the team you are playing against.
  • Match format — the number of players per side (5-a-side, 7-a-side, 9-a-side, or 11-a-side). This determines the pitch layout if you use the lineup feature.
  • Number of sectors — how many time periods the match is split into. Use 2 for halves, 3 for thirds, or 4 for quarters. Sectors are flexible — pick whatever matches your league's format.

Tap Create and you will see the match screen. The score starts at 0–0 and the match status is set to pending.

Start the match

Tap Start when the referee blows the whistle. The sector indicator shows you are in sector 1. If your team plays timed sectors and you have a Pro subscription, the match timer begins counting.

Log a goal

Tap the + button (or the goal icon) and choose Goal. Select the scorer from your player list. You can optionally add an assist — tap the assist field and pick the player who set it up. If there was no assist, leave it blank.

The score updates immediately. If the opposition scores, tap the goal button on their side of the scoreboard.

Log other events

Beyond goals, you can record:

  • Own goals — attributed to a player on your team, with the goal counted for the opposition.
  • Substitutions — select the player coming off and the player coming on.
  • Fouls, corners, and dribble ons — these feed into your season statistics and player ratings.

You do not have to log every event type. Goals are the essential one; everything else adds depth to your stats but is entirely optional.

End a sector and finish the match

When the period ends, tap End Sector. If there are more sectors to play, tap Start again for the next one. When the final sector ends, tap End Match. The match status changes to completed and the final score is locked in.

What happens next

Once the match is complete, all the data is saved automatically. You will find it in several places:

  • Match detail — tap any match on your Matches page to see the full breakdown: score, events, player stats for that game.
  • Season stats — your team's Stats page updates with cumulative totals: top scorers, assists, appearances, ratings.
  • Share link — every match gets a shareable link you can send to parents. More on this in the sharing guide.

Nothing is lost if you close the app or lose signal during a match. Events are saved as you log them. If your connection drops, the data syncs when you are back online.

You are ready to go. Record a match this weekend and your dashboard will start filling up with real data — season records, player stats, and milestones.
