Sharing matches with parents
Share live scores, spectator uploads, and what parents can see.
Every match in Touchlines gets a shareable link that lets parents follow the score in real time. No app download, no account — they open the link in any browser and see what is happening on the pitch.
What the share link does
When someone opens your match link, they see a live view of the match:
- The current score, updating automatically as you log goals.
- An event feed showing goals with scorer names and the time they were scored.
- The match status — whether the game is active, at half-time, or finished.
Updates arrive within a few seconds of you logging an event. Parents do not need to refresh the page — the score updates on its own.
How to send the link
During a match (or before kick-off), tap Share on the match screen. This copies the match link to your clipboard. Send it however you normally reach parents — WhatsApp group, text message, email, or anything else.
The link works immediately. You can share it before the match starts and it will show a "pending" status until you tap Start.
You only need to share the link once per match. The same link stays live throughout the game and remains accessible afterwards.
What parents see
The spectator view is deliberately simple. Parents see:
- Live score — both teams, updated in real time.
- Event feed — goals (with scorer and assist names), own goals, and substitutions.
- Match status — pending, active (with the current sector), or completed.
- Final result — after the match ends, the page shows the final score and full event timeline.
The link continues to work after full time. Parents who could not watch live can open it later and see the complete result.
Spectator photo and video uploads
Parents watching the match can upload photos and videos directly from the share page. This is a simple way to collect match-day media without chasing people for files afterwards.
Each spectator can upload up to 10 photos and 10 videos per match. On a Pro team, these limits increase to 100 of each.
The approval queue
Spectator uploads do not appear publicly straight away. They land in your Media tab with a "pending" status.
Open the match detail, tap Media, and you will see any pending uploads. Review each one and tap Approve to make it visible, or Reject to remove it. This gives you full control over what media is associated with your match.
Approved photos and videos are visible to anyone with the match link.
Privacy
The share link is designed to show match results, not your coaching data. Here is what is and is not visible to anyone with the link:
Visible to spectators:
- Score and match status
- Goal and substitution events with player names
- Approved media uploads
Not visible to spectators:
- Your full player roster or squad list
- Player statistics or ratings
- Coach notes
- Tactical data, lineup positions, or formations
- Pending or rejected media uploads
- Any other team or season data
The link is not indexed by search engines. Only people you share it with can find it. If you want to stop sharing a match, there is no need to revoke the link — it only shows read-only match data and carries no access to your account.
